Christmas Lawn Decorations – The Magic of Christmas

Think back, as a child, what was some of your best memories of Christmas? Do you remember driving through different parts of town mesmerized by the Christmas lawn decorations? I recall there always being a news story of the most decorated yard, and we would drive out to see it. There were homes that you knew would have something spectacular, and would outdo themselves from the year before.

There are so many options for Christmas lawn decorations these days, so much more from when I was a child. There are all sorts of Reindeer's, Santa's of all shapes and sizes, of course the snowman and anything else imaginable.

There is something magical about the feeling you get during this time of year, the effort so many people go to to create joy and excitement during this amazing season.

It is so fun to see certain neighborhoods becoming competitive in their decorating, who has the brightest lights, the most lights, the most variety of Christmas lawn decorations.

So how do you know where to begin if you want to start your own tradition? First, you want to choose decorations that represent your beliefs and ideas of what the holidays mean to you and your family.

Determine the size and area you will be decorating, you don't want to cram a lot of huge ornaments in a small area, you want elegance and magic, not junky and ridiculous. You are not trying to blind those who drive by, but attract on lookers who will take in the beautiful spirit that you are portraying. I would recommend you start off with a couple of smaller Christmas lawn decorations, then you will be able to see what is needed, and build upon your theme.

Plan on weather conditions when you choose your decorations, there are some that may not withstand harsher weather such as snow and extreme low temperatures.

If you have tons of space to work with, then you can have a great time planning out your Christmas lawn decorations. You may want to have different groupings, such as Reindeer in one area, a Christmas village in another, your options are unlimited to your imagination. Have each grouping tell it's own story, a definitive theme.

Once the holiday season has come to a close, pack your Christmas lawn decorations with great care. They need to be completely free of any moisture so that mold does not form. Store them in airtight containers in an area that has controlled temperature. By doing this, you will have these Christmas lawn decorations for a lifetime, even to hand down to your children when the time comes. This is a great family tradition to enjoy each and every year, something to look forward to and always remember.
